GOD’S PROSPERITY COVENANT
King James
Bible
“For the turning away of the simple shall slay them, and the prosperity of fools shall destroy them.” – Proverbs 1:32
“For the turning away of the simple shall slay them, and the prosperity of fools shall destroy them.” – Proverbs 1:32
2 Corinthians 6:10
As sorrowful, yet always rejoicing;
as poor, yet making many rich; as having nothing, and yet possessing all
things. NKJV
It is important to note that
preaching would inspire you but it is teaching that would instruct you.
2 Chronicles 15:1 - 6
2Ch 15:1 Now the Spirit of God came upon Azariah the
son of Oded.
2 And he went out to meet Asa, and
said to him: "Hear me, Asa, and all Judah and Benjamin. The LORD is with
you while you are with Him. If you seek Him, He will be found by you; but if
you forsake Him, He will forsake you.
3 "For a long time Israel has
been without the true God, without a teaching priest, and without law;
4 "but when in their trouble
they turned to the LORD God of Israel, and sought Him, He was found by them.
5 "And in those times there was
no peace to the one who went out, nor to the one who came in, but great turmoil
was on all the inhabitants of the lands.
6 "So nation was destroyed by
nation, and city by city, for God troubled them with every adversity.
Israel had been in such dangerous
times but by the coming up of the teaching priest, there was a turn around.
These are messengers of the LORD’S
covenant who interprets God’s agenda to the people of God. In other words, they
are anointed interpreters of God covenant to His redeemed.
Job 33:21 His flesh is consumed away
from view, and his bones that were not seen stick out;
22 And his soul draweth near to the
pit, and his life to the destroyers.
23 If there be a messenger with him,
an interpreter, one among a thousand, to shew unto man his duty;
24 Then he will be gracious unto him,
and say, Deliver him from going down to the pit: I have found a ransom.
25 His flesh shall be fresher than in
childhood; he shall return to the days of his youth.
26 He shall pray unto God, and he
will receive him with favour; and he shall see his face with shoutings, and he
will render unto man his righteousness.
Those
interpreters are not many in our days.
Israel has been in bondage for four
hundred years in Egypt, and one night under the teaching ministry of Moses the
servant of God, walked out. It was just one night.
Tonight, somebody is about walking
out of chronic bondage in the name of Jesus.
This Bible is not just a religious
book. If you give it a religious approach you will miss its reality.
“The Bible is the Creator’s manual
for profitable living” – Bishop David Oyedepo
Every producer, after manufacturing a
product would put a small paper or booklet in the package and on it, the
instruction for it profitable uses are found on it. it is called manual.
Ps 100:3 Know that the LORD, He is
God; It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves; We are His people and the sheep
of His pasture. (NKJV)
So we came from God’s factory and the
manual for our maximum living is the Bible.
Acts 5:6 And the multitude also of
the cities round about came together to Jerusalem, bringing sick persons and
persons beset by unclean spirits, who were all healed.
17 And the high priest rising up, and all they
that were with him, which is the sect of the Sadducees, were filled with wrath,
18 and laid hands on the apostles and
put them in the public prison.
19 But an angel of [the] Lord during
the night opened the doors of the prison, and leading them out, said,
20 Go ye and stand and speak in the
temple to the people all the words of this life.
So the Bible (Word of God) contains
all of live.
2Timothy 3:14 But you must continue
in the things which you have learned and been assured of, knowing from whom you
have learned them,
15 and that from childhood you have
known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation
through faith which is in Christ Jesus.
16 All Scripture is given by
inspiration of God, and is
profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in
righteousness,
17 that the man of God may be
complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.
Hebrews 4:2 For indeed the gospel was
preached to us as well as to them; but the word which they heard did not profit
them, not being mixed with faith in those who heard it.
If the word of God received is mixed
with faith, there is profitable living.
2Peter 1:17 For He received from God
the Father honor and glory when such a voice came to Him from the Excellent
Glory: "This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased."
18 And we heard this voice which came
from heaven when we were with Him on the holy mountain.
19 And so we have the prophetic word
confirmed, which you do well to heed as a light that shines in a dark place,
until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts;
20 knowing this first, that no
prophecy of Scripture is of any private interpretation,
21 for prophecy never came by the
will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit.
The word of God has no private
interpretation and not specific to certain individuals. Whosoever receives with
faith and applies its instruction would experience its reality.
It is got to do with you and not
where you are. Many perish for lack of knowledge.
Joshua 1:8 "This Book of the Law
shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night,
that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you
will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.
GOD'S PROSPERITY COVENANT
ROOT CAUSE OF POVERTY.
Genesis 3:1-12
Ge 3:1 Now the serpent was more
cunning than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said to
the woman, "Has God indeed said, 'You shall not eat of every tree of the
garden'?"
2 And the woman said to the serpent,
"We may eat the fruit of the trees of the garden;
3 "but of the fruit of the tree
which is in the midst of the garden, God has said, 'You shall not eat it, nor
shall you touch it, lest you die.'"
4 Then the serpent said to the woman,
"You will not surely die.
5 "For God knows that in the day
you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good
and evil."
6 So when the woman saw that the tree was good
for food, that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree desirable to make one
wise, she took of its fruit and ate. She also gave to her husband with her, and
he ate.
7 Then the eyes of both of them were
opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together
and made themselves coverings.
8 And they heard the sound of the
LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and Adam and his wife
hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God among the trees of the garden.
9 Then the LORD God called to Adam
and said to him, "Where are you?"
10
So he said, "I heard Your voice in the garden, and I was afraid because I
was naked; and I hid myself."
11 ¶ And He said, "Who told you
that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree of which I commanded you that
you should not eat?"
12 Then the man said, "The woman
whom You gave to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I ate."
NAKEDNESS is the greatest sign of
poverty.
Man was driven away from the Garden
of Eden; the home of abundance, to the wilderness of limitless wants.
The only way of reconnecting back to
Eden is by salvation. It is only being born again that warrant a reconnection
to the Garden of abundance.
The ROOT cause of man’s depravity and
crises is his fall. And redemption is the way back to man’s restoration.
Another root cause of poverty is the
curse of the law. Deuteronomy chapter 28 is made up of 52 verses. 35 of the 52
has to do with curses.
But Christ has redeemed us from the
curse of the law.
Galatians 3:13 Christ has redeemed us
from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written,
"Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree"),
14 that the blessing of Abraham might
come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of
the Spirit through faith.
You see, God gave man a law that was
very difficult to obey and ones inability to comply resulted into a curse. This
was because of the disobedience of the Israelites.
Ezekiel 20:25 "Therefore I also
gave them up to statutes that were not good, and judgments by which they could
not live;”
Breaking of this law resulted in a
curse. This made man hopelessly helpless.
The curse of satan – the thief comes
not but to steal, kill and destroy. The horns that scatters the nations that no
one could lift the head.
Zechariah 1:21 And I said, "What
are these coming to do?" So he said, "These are the horns that
scattered Judah, so that no one could lift up his head; but the craftsmen are
coming to terrify them, to cast out the horns of the nations that lifted up
their horn against the land of Judah to scatter it."
GOD'S PROSPERITY COVENANT
THE NATURE OF THE COVENANT
THE NATURE OF THE COVENANT
God’s prosperity plan is universal
just as salvation and redemption are union universal. It has no regard for
race, gender, colour, etc.
John 3:15 "that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal
life.
16 "For God so loved the world
that He gave His only begotten Son, that
whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life”.
This is God’s plan the whole world
and whosoever get connected shall receive the impact.
John 7:37 On the last day, that great
day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, "If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and
drink.”
Ecclesiastes 5:9 Moreover the profit
of the land is for all; even the
king is served from the field.
Galations 3:8 And the Scripture,
foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel to
Abraham beforehand, saying, "In you
all the nations shall be blessed."
The gospel is the only platform of
equality.
Romans 10:12 For there is no
distinction between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord over all is rich to all who call upon Him.
GOD'S PROSPERITY COVENANT
HOW DO I RECEIVE GOD’S PLAN OF
ABUNDANCE IN MY LIFE?
Deuteronomy 8:18 "And you shall
remember the LORD your God, for it is He who gives you power to get wealth,
that He may establish His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is
this day”.
Remember that God’s is not just a
promise so you can claim it by prayer and fasting. In fact, God’s prosperity
covenant has no respect for prayer and fasting otherwise prayer warriors would
be millionaires. Until your part is played, God is not committed.
It is a covenant you enter into by
practice and not by words.
Covenant practice is the master key
to kingdom prosperity. Without the key you may be locked up all your days. The
kingdom works on the key principle.
WHAT IS A COVENANT IN THE KINGDOM
CONTEXT?
A deal enacted by God based on well
defined terms and sealed with an oath. – Bishop David Oyedopo.
Hebrews 6:12 that you do not become
sluggish, but imitate those who through faith and patience inherit the
promises.
13 For when God made a promise to
Abraham, because He could swear by no one greater, He swore by Himself,
14 saying, "Surely blessing I
will bless you, and multiplying I will multiply you."
15 And so, after he had patiently
endured, he obtained the promise.
16 For men indeed swear by the
greater, and an oath for confirmation is for them an end of all dispute.
17 Thus God, determining to show more
abundantly to the heirs of promise the immutability of His counsel, confirmed
it by an oath,
18 that by two immutable things, in
which it is impossible for God to lie, we might have strong consolation, who
have fled for refuge to lay hold of the hope set before us.
An oath is an end to all man’s strife
- God swore by Himself and cannot deny Himself. Your covenant practice commits
God’s integrity to perform or deliver.
A promise has no terms and oath. A
covenant is stronger than a promise.
Bishop Oyedopo gives this analogy:
You don’t pray to be paid at where
you work unless there is crisis. You don’t need to harass God to be faithful.
His name is faithful witness.
As long as you work, you are paid
according to the contract. If you perform your part of the covenant, you don’t
need to pray for God to perform his. He is already committed to His word and
cannot deny it.
If you remove money from people’s
prayer, they will have few things to pray about – what they don’t have to pray
about is what they spend enough time praying about.
God’s kingdom prosperity plan have
key – you can do whatever you want if do
not have the key, no amount of struggle can get you out of the situation you
find yourself in.
GOD'S PROSPERITY COVENANT
WHAT IS THAT COVENANT THAT SHOWS ME
MY PART
Genesis 8:20-22
Ge 8:20 ¶ Then Noah built an altar to
the LORD, and took of every clean animal and of every clean bird, and offered
burnt offerings on the altar.
21 And the LORD smelled a soothing
aroma. Then the LORD said in His heart, "I will never again curse the
ground for man's sake, although the imagination of man's heart is evil from his
youth; nor will I again destroy every living thing as I have done.
22 "While the earth remains,
Seedtime and harvest, Cold and heat, winter and summer, And day and night Shall
not cease."
God was moved by the sacrifice and
made permanent pronouncements which are evident today.
2Corinthians 9:6 But this I say: He
who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will
also reap bountifully.
7 So let each one give as he purposes
in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver.
8 And God is able to make all grace
abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may
have an abundance for every good work.
9 As it is written: "He has
dispersed abroad, He has given to the poor; His righteousness endures
forever."
10 Now may He who supplies seed to
the sower, and bread for food, supply and multiply the seed you have sown and increase
the fruits of your righteousness,
Seed time and harvesting time are
explained and sowing and reaping time.
Consider this passage of scripture:
Philippians 4:15 Now you Philippians
know also that in the beginning of the gospel, when I departed from Macedonia,
no church shared with me concerning giving and receiving but you only.
16 For even in Thessalonica you sent
aid once and again for my necessities.
17 Not that I seek the gift, but I
seek the fruit that abounds to your account.
18 Indeed I have all and abound. I am
full, having received from Epaphroditus the things sent from you, a
sweet-smelling aroma, an acceptable sacrifice, well pleasing to God.
19 And my God shall supply all your
need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
Verses 15-17 was the action and verse
18 and 19 are the results. They were doing good to Paul but were in-turn
pleasing God. Like Noah while he was sacrificing here on earth, God was
smelling the aroma in heaven.
Proverbs 10:22 The blessing of the
LORD makes one rich, And He adds no sorrow with it.
Galatians 6:7 Do not be deceived, God
is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap.
IMPORTANT THINGS TO NOTE
Your giving is not a religious
donation. You donate to the needy and God is not needy. You are too
isignificant to support God.
Your givings are spiritual
transactions that provoke divine intervention on your behalf.
A support mentality would not grant
you access to God’s prosperity plan.
Psalm 50:4-15
Ps 50:4 He shall call to the heavens
from above, And to the earth, that He may judge His people:
5 "Gather My saints together to
Me, Those who have made a covenant with Me by sacrifice."
6 Let the heavens declare His
righteousness, For God Himself is Judge. Selah
7 ¶ "Hear, O My people, and I will
speak, O Israel, and I will testify against you; I am God, your God!
8 I will not rebuke you for your
sacrifices Or your burnt offerings, Which are continually before Me.
9 I will not take a bull from your
house, Nor goats out of your folds.
10 For every beast of the forest is
Mine, And the cattle on a thousand hills.
11 I know all the birds of the
mountains, And the wild beasts of the field are Mine.
12 "If I were hungry, I would
not tell you; For the world is Mine, and all its fullness.
13 Will I eat the flesh of bulls, Or
drink the blood of goats?
14 Offer to God thanksgiving, And pay
your vows to the Most High.
15 Call upon Me in the day of
trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify Me."
God spoke from heaven whiles Abraham
was making a sacrifice on earth.
Genesis 22:5 And Abraham said to his
young men, "Stay here with the donkey; the lad and I will go yonder and
worship, and we will come back to you."
6 So Abraham took the wood of the
burnt offering and laid it on Isaac his son; and he took the fire in his hand,
and a knife, and the two of them went together.
7 But Isaac spoke to Abraham his
father and said, "My father!" And he said, "Here I am, my
son." Then he said, "Look, the fire and the wood, but where is the
lamb for a burnt offering?"
8 And Abraham said, "My son, God
will provide for Himself the lamb for a burnt offering." So the two of
them went together.
9 Then they came to the place of
which God had told him. And Abraham built an altar there and placed the wood in
order; and he bound Isaac his son and laid him on the altar, upon the wood.
10 And Abraham stretched out his hand
and took the knife to slay his son.
11 ¶ But the Angel of the LORD called
to him from heaven and said, "Abraham, Abraham!" So he said,
"Here I am."
12 And He said, "Do not lay your
hand on the lad, or do anything to him; for now I know that you fear God, since
you have not withheld your son, your only son, from Me."
13 Then Abraham lifted his eyes and
looked, and there behind him was a ram caught in a thicket by its horns. So
Abraham went and took the ram, and offered it up for a burnt offering instead
of his son.
14 And Abraham called the name of the
place, The-LORD-Will-Provide; as it is said to this day, "In the Mount of
The LORD it shall be provided."
15 ¶ Then the Angel of the LORD
called to Abraham a second time out of heaven,
16 and said: "By Myself I have
sworn, says the LORD, because you have done this thing, and have not withheld
your son, your only son -
17 "blessing I will bless you,
and multiplying I will multiply your descendants as the stars of the heaven and
as the sand which is on the seashore; and your descendants shall possess the
gate of their enemies.
God spoke the second time from
heaven.
Solomon sacrificed thousand rams and
God came down that night and asked, what shall I do for you.
2Chronicles 7:7 Furthermore Solomon
consecrated the middle of the court that was in front of the house of the LORD;
for there he offered burnt offerings and the fat of the peace offerings,
because the bronze altar which Solomon had made was not able to receive the
burnt offerings, the grain offerings, and the fat.
8 At that time Solomon kept the feast
seven days, and all Israel with him, a very great assembly from the entrance of
Hamath to the Brook of Egypt.
9 And on the eighth day they held a
sacred assembly, for they observed the dedication of the altar seven days, and
the feast seven days.
10 On the twenty-third day of the
seventh month he sent the people away to their tents, joyful and glad of heart
for the good that the LORD had done for David, for Solomon, and for His people
Israel.
11 Thus Solomon finished the house of
the LORD and the king's house; and Solomon successfully accomplished all that
came into his heart to make in the house of the LORD and in his own house.
12 ¶ Then the LORD appeared to
Solomon by night, and said to him: "I have heard your prayer, and have
chosen this place for Myself as a house of sacrifice.
2Chronicles 1:6 And Solomon went up
there to the bronze altar before the LORD, which was at the tabernacle of
meeting, and offered a thousand burnt offerings on it.
7 On that night God appeared to
Solomon, and said to him, "Ask! What shall I give you?"
8 And Solomon said to God: "You
have shown great mercy to David my father, and have made me king in his place.
David’s sacrifice caused God to take
away the plaque from Israel.
2Samuel 24:25 And David built there
an altar to the LORD, and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings. So the
LORD heeded the prayers for the land, and the plague was withdrawn from Israel.
Hebrews 7:8, Malachi 3:10
Your givings are recorded in heaven.
God said, I will build my church.
You cannot build His church.
Every ministry of God has a budget
with God and when the ministry is connected to God, the budget is released.
Psalm 24:1 The earth is the LORD'S,
and all its fullness, The world and those who dwell therein.
It is impossible for man to support
God – if God were to be hungry would he ask you for food.
NINE WAYS IN WHICH THE COVENANT APPLY
1. We sow in worship offering
Mark 12:41
Now Jesus sat opposite the treasury and saw how the people put money into the
treasury. And many who were rich put in much.
42 Then one
poor widow came and threw in two mites, which make a quadrans.
43 So He
called His disciples to Himself and said to them, "Assuredly, I say to you
that this poor widow has put in more than all those who have given to the
treasury;
44 "for
they all put in out of their abundance, but she out of her poverty put in all
that she had, her whole livelihood."
2. Kingdom investment – Haggai 1:8
Haggai 1:8
"Go up to the mountains and bring wood and build the temple, that I may
take pleasure in it and be glorified," says the LORD.
3. Giving to the poor
Proverbs
28:27 He who gives to the poor will not lack, But he who hides his eyes will
have many curses.
4. Giving for the common good
1Timothy 6:17
Command those who are rich in this present age not to be haughty, nor to trust
in uncertain riches but in the living God, who gives us richly all things to
enjoy.
18 Let them
do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to give, willing to share,
19 storing up
for themselves a good foundation for the time to come, that they may lay hold
on eternal life.
Imparting the
communities with our substance and wealth. We are the salt of the earth and not
the salt of the church.
5. Tithes (Tithing) – The covenant
master key. No other giving would be substituted for tithing. The story of J.C
Penny and John D. Rockfeller
6. Willingness s the key. Your reward
demands that you do it willingly - 2Corinthians 8:12 For if there is first a
willing mind, it is accepted according to what one has, and not according to
what he does not have. Exodus 35:5,22
7. Give cheerfully - 2Corinthians 9:7 So
let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity;
for God loves a cheerful giver.
8. Give in love and not just show up. 1Corinthians
13:3 And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my
body to be burned, but have not love, it profits me nothing.
9. Continuously, sacrificially,
honourably and tirelessly - Psalm 50:8 I will not rebuke you for your
sacrifices or your burnt offerings, Which are continually before Me. Mal 1:6 ¶
"A son honors his father, And a servant his master. If then I am the
Father, Where is My honor? And if I am a Master, Where is My reverence? Says
the LORD of hosts To you priests who despise My name. Yet you say, 'In what way
have we despised Your name?'
7 "You
offer defiled food on My altar. But say, 'In what way have we defiled You?' By
saying, 'The table of the LORD is contemptible.'
8 And when
you offer the blind as a sacrifice, Is it not evil? And when you offer the lame
and sick, Is it not evil? Offer it then to your governor! Would he be pleased
with you? Would he accept you favorably?" Says the LORD of hosts.
9 "But
now entreat God's favor, That He may be gracious to us. While this is being
done by your hands, Will He accept you favorably?" Says the LORD of hosts.
CONCLUSION
God is not in
need, he would need us for nothing but we would need Him for everything.
Your giving
does not only attract financial and material return but addresses ALL YOUR
NEED.
Philippians
4:19 And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by
Christ Jesus
The lord bless you.
